Requirements
- Have a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 2+ years of experience in a retail buying or merchandising role
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office/Google Suite (Excel/Word/PowerPoint) and love learning new systems
- Know retail math and business metrics
- Be knowledgeable about market trends, and have an understanding of client preferences
- Be analytical and enjoy using client feedback to drive assortment decisions
- Have a keen eye for product and experience spotting and reacting to trends across the market
- Be comfortable taking calculated risks to achieve results, and thrive in an environment where you are empowered to make data-driven, bold decisions
- Be detail-oriented, organized and possess effective time management skills and have proven you can thrive in a fast-paced, nuanced environment where bold and proactive decision-making is essential
- Have worked in an environment where change is constant and youβve demonstrated your ability to maintain flexibility and a solutions-driven approach
- Have developed strong negotiation skills
- Have strong oral and written communication skills
- Thrive in a feedback driven environment
- Be able to travel up to 25-30% of the time
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute merchandising strategies to achieve financial and client goals, driving seasonal line plans across brands and partners
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Buying, Planning, Styling, and Marketing, to ensure a cohesive product assortment and customer experience
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities that inform buying and merchandising decisions
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, pricing, and delivery terms to optimize profitability and performance
- Monitor and analyze sales data, inventory levels, and client feedback to guide future assortments and improve overall results
- Strategically manage the vendor matrix, maximizing product opportunities and aligning with financial and operational goals
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to team discussions, fostering collaboration to meet business objectives
Preferred Qualifications
- Have experience with Vertical Retailers and/or Private Label
- Have Childrenβs wear experience
