Summary

Join Rewiring America, a leading electrification nonprofit, as an Associate General Counsel, Compliance. This newly-created position combines high-level strategic responsibilities with hands-on legal work to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience practicing law with a focus on government contracts and non-profit compliance
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and membership in good standing with a state bar

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage compliance programs and initiatives to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all external stakeholders, including government entities, public and private supporters, and non-profit partners
  • Conduct audits and internal investigations to identify and address potential areas of non-compliance
  • Provide advice and guidance on procurement, reporting, and other obligations related to Rewiring America’s role as a federal grant subrecipient
  • Provide advice and guidance on lobbying reporting and compliance
  • Review and update company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Develop and deliver effective compliance training, on-demand documentation, and communications to integrate ethical decision-making into day-to-day work
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records of compliance-related activities
  • Conduct periodic risk assessments
  • Handle internal investigations and manage external relationships with regulators and government grantee recipient
  • Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and emerging trends in compliance
  • Provide support in responding to legal and regulatory inquiries and investigations
  • Draft, negotiate, and review complex agreements to ensure alignment with our business objectives and mitigate potential risks

  • 16 weeks of parental leave, in all cases related to birth, adoption, or foster care starting from the first day of employment
