Summary

Join Convergent Energy and Power as an Associate Project Manager of Land Development and contribute to building a cleaner energy future. This fully remote role (or hybrid in NYC) supports the project execution team in developing standalone storage and solar-plus-storage projects. You will assist with site due diligence, permitting, stakeholder engagement, and administrative tasks, working closely with senior team members. This position offers a learning opportunity with growth potential. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US or Canada; visa sponsorship is not available. The role involves strategic project development, cross-functional collaboration, administrative tasks, operational oversight, and some leadership coordination.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, geosciences, or other degree relevant to land development, renewable energy, or project management
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in renewable energy, real estate development, engineering, or similar field. Entry level experience with land development, entitlement and permitting processes
  • Exposure to project construction and schedule management
  • Intermediate organizational and communication skills to manage multiple tasks and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Prior exposure to reviewing and interpreting technical reports and providing summaries to senior team members for decision-making. Proven ability to identify and escalate project challenges
  • Proven ability to perform tasks under close supervision and follow established guidelines for routine responsibilities. Proven ability to transition from tasks under close supervision to tasks managed autonomously
  • Travel as required (approximately 20%) to progress project entitlements, including pre-application, municipal, or pre-construction meetings

Responsibilities

  • Support the needs of the senior manager which may include assisting with permitting efforts, consultant schedule management, contracts and invoicing, and project reporting
  • Assist with site due diligence activities by gathering and analyzing technical data to assess site feasibility
  • Coordinate with consultants performing site studies, environmental reviews, and technical evaluations, ensuring deliverables align with project needs
  • Support the preparation and submission of permitting applications and track progress through the approval process
  • Monitor deadlines and coordinate team efforts to ensure tasks align with the overall project schedule
  • Travel as needed to attend public meetings or site visits, representing the company and providing support as necessary
  • Work alongside cross-functional teams to support development activities, communicate progress, and assist with handing off entitled projects to the construction team
  • Observe and support cross-functional collaboration to build foundational project management skills, including critical thinking, problem-solving, negotiation, team coordination, effective communication, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management
  • Learn and apply strategic problem-solving skills to cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives
  • Assist in preparing reports and documentation for internal stakeholders, including summarizing progress, and escalating project challenges to leadership
  • Monitor project timelines and assist in maintaining detailed project records, including filing and tracking of essential due diligence and entitlement documents under the guidance of senior team members
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings with consultants and internal and external stakeholders
  • Support the management of consultants and vendor contracts, including tracking invoices and payments to ensure alignment with budgets
  • Maintain regular communication with managers and team members, including attending in-person meetings at the NYC headquarters as needed to foster collaboration
  • Assist senior members in evaluating and selecting consultants and service providers, including those for title insurance, due diligence, permitting, surveying, and legal counsel
  • Support permitting activities by coordinating internal and external resources to ensure compliance with project requirements. Support vendor selection by preparing comparative analyses for manager review
  • Assist senior managers and cross-functional teams (e.g., Pre-Con, Engineering and Legal) by ensuring smooth execution of assigned tasks
  • Support specific tasks as assigned by senior team members, ensuring timely completion with close guidance. Provide updates and support senior team members in ensuring project alignment and transparency across teams
  • Manage personal bandwidth and tasks and communicate effectively when experiencing constraints

Preferred Qualifications

  • Land development experience
  • Solar or BESS experience
  • LEAN and SixSigma certifications
  • Engineer in Training (EIT)
