Summary
Join Mercy For Animals' Board of Directors and contribute to ending industrial animal agriculture. This volunteer leadership role involves strategic guidance, financial oversight, and advocacy. Board members will help shape the organization's long-term strategy, review performance, and ensure alignment with the mission. Ambassadorship includes leveraging networks for funding and partnerships, representing the organization at events, and building community connections. Governance responsibilities include financial oversight, supporting executive team development, and ensuring accountability. A three-year term is required, with approximately 70 hours of annual commitment. The ideal candidate possesses passion for ending animal suffering, strategic thinking skills, leadership experience, and connections within the animal protection community.

Responsibilities
- Guide long-term strategy and organizational planning
- Review performance against mission-critical metrics
- Ensure alignment with Mercy For Animalsβ mission
- Leverage your network to open doors for funding and partnerships
- Represent Mercy For Animals at industry conferences and movement-related events
- Attend our events and help build community connections
- Provide financial oversight and approve annual budgets
- Support executive team development and succession planning
- Ensure organizational accountability and risk management
Preferred Qualifications
- Human resources and people leadership: experience building high-performing teams, developing organizational culture, and scaling talent strategies
- Branding, marketing, and storytelling: proven track record in brand development, digital marketing, content strategy, and compelling narrative creation that drives engagement and action
- Organizational scaling: hands-on experience rapidly growing organizations, including with operational systems, international expansion, and managing growth challenges
- Connections and background: international experience; connections with influential stakeholders and potential major donors; or a background in corporate engagement, legal, or social impact work
- Leaders who represent diversity, such as in ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, or geographic location
- Professionals with international experience, particularly in markets where Mercy For Animals seeks expansion
- Individuals with experience promoting social justice
- Those with connections to communities involved in effective altruism, corporate responsibility, or policy advocacy
