Bookkeeper

Summary

Join HyperionDev, a leading provider of accelerated tech education, as a Bookkeeper in our Finance Department. Ensure the finance system is kept accurate and up-to-date to compile and review management accounts and statutory filings. Ideal candidate should have 4+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, strong technical abilities, excellent organizational skills, and be comfortable working in a multi-currency environment.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
• Post Matric or equivalent qualification in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or a related field
• Strong written, verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organisational skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• Excellent numerical skills
• Possess a high level of attention of detail

Responsibilities

• Accurate and timely capturing of supplier invoices in Xero
• Accurate capturing of VAT for all transactions
• Accurate cost and department code allocation
• Liaising with various departments to ensure approval of invoices
• Draft payment schedules
• Process and reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions
• Review and ensure accurate processing of customer invoices
• Accurate allocation of customer receipts to customer invoices
• Periodic review of accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding invoices
• Review proposed customer refunds
• Maintain accurate, complete and up to date supplier and customer information on Xero
• Monitoring finance mailboxes for invoices and payments required
• Process employee expense reimbursements
• Maintain a complete filing system of accounting data and records
• Support Accountants with month-end close
• Assist with annual audit pack preparation
• Assist with Ad-hoc tasks and projects as required

Preferred Qualifications

• Xero and G-suite experience is preferred
• Exposure to a fast-paced, start-up environment
• Based in Cape Town
