Summary
Join GoodParty.org as their Business Operations Director, a remote, high-impact role requiring 7+ years of experience. You will design and optimize systems, manage finances, lead goal-setting, and ensure smooth daily operations. This position demands strong analytical and project management skills, financial acumen, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver thriving in fast-paced startup environments and passionate about transforming civic leadership. GoodParty.org offers a competitive salary, excellent benefits, and the opportunity to contribute to a meaningful mission. The role involves building a small operations team and working with a fully remote team.
Requirements
- You have 7+ years of work experience in business operations, operations, or a related role in a startup or high-growth environment. Scaling challenges aren’t new for you
- You are numbers and metrics driven and use data to inform decisions
- You have strong financial acumen, with experience managing budgets, forecasts, and resource allocation. You’ve contributed to strategic finance decisions and understand the financial side of scaling an organization
- You have a results-driven approach to project management, focused on delivering high-quality outcomes on time and within budget. You prioritize Agile methodologies where possible and can also lead waterfall projects
- You’re an excellent meeting facilitator, skilled at structuring meetings, setting clear agendas, and driving actionable outcomes
- You’re a generalist who finds it fun (not intimidating) to work across every function. You have a track record of high capacity and high performance, with responsibility for a vast portfolio of initiatives and projects
- You have experience with effectively using the OKR framework to drive team and organizational alignment
- You can confidently put together a polished, persuasive presentation with clear, succinct slides and can help others improve theirs
- You’re highly organized and detail-oriented. You catch the details that others miss and catch issues as they’re emerging
- You love systems but also strive to keep them lean and nimble. You have an eye for automating and simplifying workflows
Responsibilities
- Drive solutions to scaling challenges in support of our mission. You’ll work across all functions and tackle a diverse range of initiatives – from high-level strategy to executing critical details – while making a lasting impact as we grow
- Drive organization and team OKRs. Collaborate with colleagues to set ambitious targets, iterate based on learnings and insights, and proactively address areas for improvement
- Manage financial operations, including budgets, forecasts, reconciliation, and resource allocation, contributing to both day-to-day financial management and strategic financial decision-making
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of key cross-functional and executive projects, enabling team leads to focus on their areas of expertise and ensuring project goals are achieved. Apply Agile project management methodologies to ensure iterative progress across teams
- Conduct analysis and provide insights on labor, financials, planning, and goal setting, preparing high quality reports and presentations. Collaborate with Data Scientist where needed
- Act as the primary owner of internal systems and tools (e.g., project management platforms, communication tools, AI tools, etc.), ensuring they are driving results and meeting the organization’s needs
- Drive critical meetings such as All Hands by identifying key content, collaborating with leaders on slides and communication, upholding a high standard for presentation outputs, and evolving the format as the organization scales
- Oversee operational compliance, ensuring we meet legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements
- Build a small Operations team over time to support our growing startup
Preferred Qualifications
- You have an MBA
- You have experience studying, working, or volunteering in politics, political activism, or democracy reform
- You’re sick of sitting on the sidelines watching our democracy fail to meet its potential
Benefits
- Innovative Bitcoin denominated deferred bonus plan, allowing you to have the amazing upside of being in a startup while working on a truly meaningful mission
- Work where and how you like, on a fully remote team spread across the country
- 100% coverage of health, dental, and vision benefits for you and your dependents
- We encourage you to take time off to recharge and have an unlimited PTO (sick and vacation) policy. This is a marathon, not a sprint. We believe a work-life balance is needed to get there
- 401(k) program available so you can contribute toward retirement savings (no employer match)
- Individual learning & development budget to fund your growth
- We’ll make sure you’ve got what you need to work remotely through our workspace setup stipend
- If you work from home, we give $50/month to help with your internet and other expenses. If you prefer co-working, that’s an option we can discuss too
- Fully funded for our mission. No stressing over whether the next round of funding will come through. Focus on making an impact. That’s what matters here
