Summary

Join Ultragenyx as a Buyer and become an integral member of the Global Procurement team. You will manage procurement activities, converting requisitions to purchase orders for all departments. Success requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, procurement experience in the pharmaceutical/life sciences industry, and cross-functional collaboration. The role offers a flexible work model (onsite 2-3 days/week or remote) and the opportunity to contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. You will be responsible for reviewing purchase requisitions, performing data analysis, assisting with employee training, and negotiating with suppliers. The ideal candidate possesses strong interpersonal skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and experience with Oracle R12 and iProcurement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent experience required
  • 3-5 years of procurement related experience (Pharmaceutical/Life Sciences industry a plus)
  • Strong Interpersonal skills – Positive attitude with a collaborative and proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Attention to detail – Exceptional organization skills with a focus on accuracy and thoroughness in all tasks
  • Customer service excellence – Dedicated to providing outstanding support and fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are a must
  • Experience working with Oracle R12 and iProcurement
  • Ability to quickly adapt to and learn additional procurement software as needed
  • Intermediate Excel Skills – Pivot tables, Vlookup, etc
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting, internal controls, and SOX principles
  • Ability to build strong relationships at all levels
  • Direct but civil temperament and presence that inspires confidence in others
  • Strong negotiation, communication, organization, and analytical skills

Responsibilities

  • Review purchase requisitions and convert them to purchase orders ensuring data accuracy
  • Perform data analysis on supplier spend and recommend cost saving proposals
  • Assist with employee Procurement process training
  • Assess quotes from multiple vendors for best quality, cost, and availability
  • Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate competitive terms, optimal pricing, and timely delivery schedules
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable and internal customers to resolve procure-to-pay issues
  • Maintain and promote strong relationships with internal customers
  • Proactively seek to improve processes and tools to enhance productivity and lower costs
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
  • Support ongoing vendor relations
