Summary

Join Eleanor Health as a compassionate and dedicated Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to provide comprehensive care to individuals recovering from substance use disorders. This per diem role involves both in-clinic work in Tampa, FL, and remote work, supporting our mission of delivering virtual and in-clinic care. You will conduct member intake and assessments, assist with care plans, provide direct member care, and perform clinical and administrative duties. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team is essential. The ideal candidate possesses strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to improving patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from a recognized certifying body (e.g., AAMA, AMT, NCCT)
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting, preferably in a substance use disorder treatment facility or behavioral health environment
  • Experience with EHR systems and medical documentation
  • Strong clinical skills, including medication administration, and basic laboratory procedures
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on patient-centered care
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Compassionate approach to patient care with a strong understanding of the complexities of substance use disorders
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and taking on a variety of tasks, as needed

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial member intake and assessments, including social history, medical history, current medications, and overall member needs
  • Assist with the coordination of member care plans, ensuring adherence to prescribed treatments and protocols
  • Provide direct member care, including administering medications, injections, and other clinical tasks as directed by healthcare providers
  • Support members through the intake process, monitoring for withdrawal symptoms and providing appropriate interventions
  • Contributes to a unique and attractive culture that values mission-orientation, proactive initiative, ethical behavior, and collaboration
  • Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas, ensuring a clean, safe, and organized environment
  • Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures
  • Perform routine in-clinic laboratory tests, including urine drug screens, and ensure accurate documentation and reporting of results
  • Manage and document member information in electronic health records (EHR) systems accurately and efficiently
  • Assists with obtaining authorizations and pre-certifications as appropriate
  • Fields medication questions from members and pharmacies for appropriate escalation to nursing and medical teams
  • Schedule and coordinate member appointments, follow-ups, and referrals
  • Maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment, ensuring proper stock levels and functionality
  • Provide member education and resources on health maintenance, medication management, and substance use disorder recovery
  • Assists with front office tasks, including telephone reception, scheduling, check-in and time-of-service collections
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss member progress, challenges, and care strategies
  • Communicate effectively with member, families, and team members, demonstrating empathy and cultural sensitivity
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices in substance use disorder treatment

Preferred Qualifications

Phlebotomy experience is a plus
