Summary
Join Stripe's commercial legal team as an exceptional transactional lawyer supporting our fast-growing North American business. You will support the AMER Sales team, leading negotiations and advising on commercial and legal issues; work with Product Legal to launch new products and features; contribute to building Stripe's commercial legal infrastructure; collaborate with various teams across Stripe; develop training resources for the Sales team; and serve as a point of escalation for outside counsel. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, proactive self-starting abilities, clear communication, collaboration skills, familiarity with legal issues in hosted data and technology services, and a team-oriented approach. A JD degree or equivalent and 6+ years of relevant experience are required. Preferred qualifications include experience in payment or fintech industries, in-house experience with high-growth companies, and knowledge of data protection laws.
Requirements

- Familiar with the range of legal issues and commercial risks that arise in connection with hosted data and technology services

- Qualified with good standing membership in at least one US state bar with a JD degree or foreign equivalent
- 6+ years of relevant experience in-house or in a technology practice group in a top law firm
Responsibilities
- Support the AMER Sales team, leading negotiations and advising on a wide range of commercial and legal issues
- Work closely with Product Legal to bring new products and features to market
- Be an integral part of the build out of Stripe’s commercial legal infrastructure so that we can scale and operate efficiently at pace with Stripe’s exponential growth - this work includes drafting and maintaining Stripe’s agreements and playbooks, leading and contributing projects to improve internal processes and operational efficiencies
- Work with teams across Stripe, including sales, operations, product, tax, and risk groups
- Develop and deliver training and other resources to help the Sales team sell our products
- Be a point of escalation for outside counsel
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in payment or fintech industries and knowledge of associated regulatory issues
- In-house experience advising high growth companies
- A working knowledge of data protection laws such as CCPA, GDPR, and HIPAA
