Join our consultancy as a Commercial Insurance Business Analyst Consultant! This remote position, open to candidates supporting Eastern Standard Time hours, requires a seasoned Business Analyst with 7+ years of experience in claims systems implementations. You will lead requirements analysis, validation, and verification, ensuring comprehensive documentation. The role demands strong communication skills, attention to detail, and collaboration with business and technical experts. Responsibilities include assisting project managers, facilitating business planning, developing test plans, and creating training materials. A deep understanding of commercial lines insurance operations, particularly P&C claims processing, is essential.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years work experience in a business analyst role, leading and/or supporting claims systems implementations
  • Bachelors Degree in business and/or technical field preferred; equivalent experience considered along with applicable professional certifications (CPCU, PMI-PBA, IIBA…)
  • Deep knowledge of insurance industry with a strong understanding of Claims, Underwriting and Financial and operations desired in one or all of the following – Commercial P&C, Professional Liability, and Workers Compensation lines
  • Ability to express ideas clearly, effectively and professionally in both verbal and written communication
  • Excellent project, organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
  • Prior experience in insurance operations, especially with claims is required

Responsibilities

  • Assists project / program manager in monitoring and coordinating implementation of small, medium or large-scale systems throughout the organization, utilizing project management principles and tools
  • Leads and performs requirements analysis, validation and verification, ensuring that requirement documents are complete, consistent, concise, comprehensible and unambiguous
  • Utilizes a variety of techniques and tools to elicit business / system requirements – including interviews, surveys, requirements workshops, business analysis, task and workflow analysis
  • Combines business and technical knowledge to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with business and technical stakeholders to define and document business and/or system requirements in accordance with defined standards and methodologies
  • Suggests improvements / solutions that enhance existing business processes
  • Facilitates business planning and prioritization of requirements based on business value
  • Develops test plans/matrices/criteria to facilitate quality assurance / acceptance testing of system deliverables
  • Performs quality assurance / acceptance testing of system deliverables as required
  • Develops training materials as well as conducts training to staff on new system implementations, enhancements or modifications
  • Augments and supports Help Desk operations regarding problem identification, triage and resolution of issues pertaining to business systems
  • Develops Requests for Information/Proposal documentation regarding software searches and analyzes vendor responses of same
  • Capable of performing data analysis using a variety of tools as necessary
  • Possesses the ability to lead internal/external teams as necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Understanding of insurance needs associated with municipalities as well as educational organizations a plus
