Summary

Join Accurate Background as a Compliance Associate and become an integral part of ensuring the company's adherence to all applicable U.S. laws, regulations, and internal policies. You will support the Compliance leadership team in maintaining compliance within the employment screening industry. This role involves implementing, monitoring, and improving compliance programs, serving as the primary contact for consumer requests under U.S. regulations, and ensuring all licenses and certifications remain current. The position requires a strong understanding of compliance procedures and regulations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. You will contribute to the integrity and efficiency of our operations by conducting research, creating documentation, preparing reports, and evaluating the impact of emerging laws and regulations. Requirements

  • Experience with the Fair Credit Reporting Act is required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Research experience is required
  • Superior problem solving skills with a passion for compliance
  • Strong decision making skills with proven track record of having excellent judgment in the face of ambiguity and imperfect information
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to conduct and analyze compliance research
  • Proven analytical and creative problem solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for consumer-related requests or notifications, including responding to requests for procedures, deletion, expungements, and other inquiries in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Track and ensure timely renewal of private investigator and industry certifications; maintain related records
  • Manage competing priorities and deliver quality information and analysis while adhering to deadlines
  • Research and clearly document domestic compliance requirements and inquiries
  • Create and maintain internal documentation, work instructions, and processes as needed
  • Ensuring procedures, policies, legislation and regulations are correctly followed and complied with as documented and in accordance with applicable law
  • Prepare reports and presentations by summarizing information and metrics
  • Work closely with management to ensure that compliance-related matters are resolved and/or handled appropriately to conclusion
  • Evaluate emerging laws and regulations and their impact on the business
  • Establish, review and report on key metrics related to compliance based services and performance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Paralegal or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree is preferred. Emphasis on law, compliance administration, business administration, or audit is preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in background screening is preferred

Benefits

  • $39,000 - $57,000 a year
  • This position may also be eligible for an annual performance-based bonus, commission, or other variable pay plan
