Content Intern

Summary

Join Khan Academy's US Content team as a Content team Intern and collaborate with experienced Content Creators to develop, launch, and improve educational content. Under the mentorship of a seasoned professional, you will manage a project from start to finish, gaining comprehensive experience in the content creation process. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to Khan Academy's mission of providing free, world-class education while learning about content creation in an edtech environment. You will also participate in an intern learning community and explore integrating AI-powered tutoring into the content. The internship culminates in a presentation showcasing your project. This full-time, remote internship runs for eight weeks.

Requirements

• Possess passion for education and instructional design
• Be motivated by the Khan Academy mission “to provide a free world-class education for anyone, anywhere.”
• Possess deep knowledge and expertise in English Language Arts (ELA)
• Have 2+ years of experience teaching English Language Arts (ELA) at the grades 6 -12 or university level
• Be able to harness creativity, empathy, and pragmatism to design learning experiences that are standards-aligned and lead to positive learning outcomes
• Be committed to equity and to delivering engaging and meaningful learning experiences to all learners, particularly those in historically underrepresented groups or communities
• Possess strong execution and collaboration skills
• Be able to connect your day-to-day work to larger departmental, school, or district-wide goals while also paying close attention to details to ensure that your work is clear, concise, and error-free
• Be an adept project manager who can break a complex task into manageable pieces and track your progress towards a goal or outcome
• Stay organized even when there are multiple tasks to complete
• Be kind, collaborative, and a strong communicator
• Be able to successfully share, solicit, and act on feedback
• Be able to sum up complex ideas and communicate them to a variety of audiences
• Have proven cross-cultural competency skills demonstrating self-awareness, awareness of others, and the ability to adopt inclusive perspectives, attitudes, and behaviors to drive inclusion and belonging throughout an organization
• Relish classroom teaching, but be curious about careers in content creation within the educational technology space, and be eager to learn more through an authentic full-time summer experience
• Be available to participate in an 8-week full-time remote internship program between the end of your 2024-25 school year and the start of your 2025-26 school year, and be available to share out your summer work at a remote event in August 2025

Responsibilities

• Develop, launch, and upgrade content on courses in your area of expertise
• Own and drive a project that gives you end-to-end experience with all aspects of Khan Academy’s content creation cycle
• Share your project through a culminating presentation at the close of the internship experience
• Explore ways to integrate our AI-powered tutor, Khanmigo, into our content to provide more tailored and interactive learning experiences to students
