Join Tailscale as our Content Manager and become a key player in shaping our brand narrative for both technical and general audiences. You will craft engaging content for various platforms, collaborating with cross-functional teams. A significant portion of your role involves content creation and editing, while the remainder focuses on strategic planning and collaboration. Your expertise in transforming complex technical concepts into accessible content is crucial. You will ensure consistent messaging across all platforms, reflecting our company values. Over time, you will become a brand custodian, ensuring high-quality content and editorial excellence.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in content editing, writing, or communications, ideally within a developer-focused or technology organization
- Ability to craft engaging, accurate, and concise content tailored to both technical and general audiences
- Comfortable working with technical subject matter; ability to distill complex concepts into accessible content
- Proven ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Proactive, independent, and eager to identify new content opportunities aligned with company priorities
- While we don’t expect the ideal candidate to know Tailscale inside and out, we are looking for people who have used Tailscale to some capacity, and understand how it works
Responsibilities
- Write, edit, and refine high-quality content for blogs, social media, newsletters, product announcements, and technical documentation such as whitepapers, research studies and other reports, collaborating with other writers and ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency
- Collaborate with communications, marketing, and product teams to develop strategic content plans that amplify key messages and align with product direction
- Partner closely with engineering and product teams to identify and surface compelling technical stories that highlight Tailscale’s unique strengths and innovation
- Work across teams — including PR, engineering, product, and community — to maintain consistency, accuracy, and alignment of messaging
- Occasionally publish and manage social media content to extend the reach of our stories and announcements. This may include video features on our Youtube channel too
- Monitor content performance, gather feedback, and continuously optimize content strategies for improved impact and engagement
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a fully remote or distributed organization
- Familiarity with cybersecurity, networking, SaaS, or related technologies
- Track record of creating impactful content during periods of rapid growth or change
- A background in technology journalism may also be a benefit in this role
