Summary

Join our team as a Controller and oversee the financial health of multiple brands, manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, while providing insight and analysis to guide the company’s financial strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA or similar certification is a plus
  • At least 5+ years of experience in a Controller or similar financial leadership role, preferably with US-based e-commerce or DTC brands
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
  • Expertise in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Advanced Excel skills with experience creating financial reports and analyses
  • Familiarity with tools like Shopify, Inventory Planner, and other e-commerce platforms
  • Experience working with international vendors and managing global payments
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and mentor junior finance staff
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across multiple time zones
  • Ability to create and improve financial processes, ensuring a smooth workflow
  • Proactive and analytical mindset, with attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for multiple brands
  • Own the month-end closing process, ensuring accurate books and financial records
  • Create and maintain budgeting templates, tracking actuals vs. budgets, and providing detailed variance analysis
  • Conduct financial forecasting and budgeting for all departments and entities
  • Collaborate with leadership to analyze financial performance and provide recommendations
  • Develop new financial reports and processes to support the company’s evolving needs
  • Oversee and guide the bookkeeping team to ensure timely and accurate data entry and reconciliation
  • Ensure proper coding of transactions, using common sense and proactive research to improve efficiency
  • Conduct regular audits to identify discrepancies or inefficiencies in the financial processes
  • Support supply chain teams with financial oversight related to inventory, purchase orders (POs), and vendor payments
  • Work closely with vendors, especially those based in China, to handle payment queries and ensure smooth financial transactions
  • Manage financial operations across multiple brands, ensuring all transactions and reports are aligned with each brand's goals and needs
  • Manage vendor relationships, ensuring timely payment and resolving any invoice discrepancies
  • Assist with invoice approvals, working closely with the Founder to establish and streamline the approval process
  • Implement a structured process for invoice submissions and approvals, ensuring efficiency and clarity
  • Implement and streamline financial processes to ensure better efficiency and reduced manual effort
  • Identify and leverage tools (e.g., Fathom or similar) to enhance reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis
  • Provide leadership to junior team members and support staff, ensuring they are aligned with the company’s financial strategy and goals
  • Work in collaboration with the Founder to create a financial roadmap for growth and expansion
  • Ensure payments are processed accurately and on time
