Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of Data Engineering processes and standards
  • Comfort with data architecture and patterns for both structured and unstructured data
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to provide mentoring cross-functionally
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Understanding of business needs, users, technology, and data, and collaboration with stakeholders to design and deliver data solutions that provide business value
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing effective solutions
  • 5+ years experience as a Data Engineer
  • 3+ years experience as a people manager
  • Experience successfully managing large scale data engineering projects
  • Proficiency with distributed systems like Spark, Kafka and data lakes
  • Experience working with time series and IoT data
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure
  • Understanding of data modeling principles
  • Proficiency with object oriented programming languages such as Python
  • Comfort with SQL

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and coach a team of six Data Engineering professionals, fostering a collaborative environment
  • Establish and continuously improve Data Engineering architecture, processes and standards
  • Provide mentoring, coaching and leadership to matrixed (dotted-line) Data Engineers
  • Own successful outcome and positive impact for critical large scale data engineering projects including project management and communication
  • Mitigate risks and clear blockers
  • Collaborate cross functionally to drive initiatives
  • Contribute hands-on to the work as needed
  • Establish, communicate and maintain a rolling 5 Quarter roadmap for Data Engineering
  • Drive stakeholder alignment on roadmap and prioritization
  • Ensure scalable and cost effective architecture

Preferred Qualifications

  • Solar Industry experience
  • Experience with Databricks
  • Experience with RDS
