Database Administrator III

Summary

Join our team as a Database Administrator III and take on the day-to-day administration and maintenance of transactional databases, ensuring availability, proper performance, and safety. Perform installations, upgrades, backup and recovery, performance tuning, security, monitoring, and configuration. Confer with managers regarding database problems and capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science or related field
• 5 years of experience in the offered position or related position
• Must possess expertise/knowledge sufficient to adequately perform the duties of the job being offered
• Experience in configuring and maintaining Oracle and SQL server databases for high availability and scalability
• Experience with ERP, CRM, data warehousing or other Oracle products
• Skilled in web or legacy based applications to develop and operate public-facing web applications
• Experience in leading business application development projects
• Experience in effectively translating business requirements in technical designs and specifications
• Experience with managing and administering cloud-based databases (AWS, Azure)

Responsibilities

• Perform activities related to the day-to-day administration and maintenance of transactional databases
• Ensure that the database is available, performing properly, and safe
• Perform installations, upgrades and patching, backup and recovery, performance tuning, security, monitoring, and configuration
• Confer with appropriate managers regarding problems with and capabilities of databases
• Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Oracle/SQL database
• Support and develop applications
• Perform backups, recoveries, installations, and security
• Responsible for database performance tuning and tuning applications as well as database monitoring and operating system configurations
• Assist in the logical and physical database and provide general support to users
• Implement and administer database replication between Oracle/SQL server databases, as well as dissimilar databases
• Upgrade and upsize databases from earlier versions to the latest versions
• Install, configure, administer and secure production servers
• Participate in database support activities throughout the full lifecycle of a project
