Summary

The Development & Operations Associate will support the administrative needs of a growing fundraising program at the Sierra Club Georgia Chapter. The role involves handling day-to-day operations, identifying and cultivating major donors, leading and supporting chapter fundraising events, building stronger fundraising narratives and campaigns, optimizing the chapter’s direct appeals program, managing membership and donor information, and enhancing chapter operations.

Responsibilities

  • Handle the day-to-day operations of our fundraising program including processing donations and making deposits
  • Respond to member and donor inquiries
  • Write fundraising appeals
  • Update database information
  • Perform donor research and prepare call sheets and memos for the Chapter Director
  • Support the general operations of the Chapter including responding to member inquiries, ensuring vendors are paid in a timely manner, and preparing reimbursement documentation to the Sierra Club Foundation
  • Identify and cultivate major donors
  • Lead and support chapter fundraising events
  • Build stronger fundraising narratives and campaigns
  • Optimize the chapter’s direct appeals program

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Georgia’s donor landscape and networks
  • Experience working with Salesforce, QuickBooks, NetSuite or other databases
  • Understanding of nonprofit fundraising and compliance
  • Experience in developing donor-specific cultivation strategies, pitches, and fundraising narratives
  • Passion for the environment, conservation and knowledge of environmental issues facing Georgia
