Summary

Spring Health is a mental health solution provider for employers and health plans. The company seeks a Director of Engineering to join their team and lead a new initiative as part of an agile team. The role involves providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, collaborating with cross-functional teams, setting standards, and championing engineering excellence. Success in the role includes launching an innovative mental health product within 5 quarters and hiring and nurturing a team of engineers and data scientists.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience as an engineer or technologist, with a proven track record of delivering successful products in or adjacent to the healthcare industry
  • A minimum of 3 years of engineering management experience with significant experience as a hands-on individual contributor, with the ability to read and write code
  • Deep understanding of modern healthcare SaaS platforms and their architecture
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to attract talent and develop high performing teams. Proven recruiting experience as a hiring manager
  • Experience defining and building new teams and departments from scratch

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to a fast-paced, early-stage team of high-velocity engineers
  • Partner with engineering leadership to set standards, technical vision, and software architecture
  • Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics for quality and velocity and holding teams accountable to them
  • Recruit, engage, and retain great problem-solvers and collaborators

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with healthcare infrastructure, in AI/ML
  • Experience managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and forecasting budgets
