Join Pleo as their Director of Content Design and build a high-performing Content Design function from the ground up. You will lead a team, establish content systems, and ensure clear communication across global markets. This role requires hands-on UX content strategy, execution, and system building. You must thrive in a fast-paced environment, solving immediate challenges while shaping future content design work. The initial six months will focus on hiring, auditing content, contributing to high-impact work, establishing a vision and processes, and building relationships. The following year will involve fully staffing the team, building scalable systems, increasing engagement metrics, creating a differentiating content strategy, and establishing prioritization frameworks. Requirements
- Built a content design function from scratch before
- Familiar with ‘hands-on’ execution in high-impact UX content work
- Knows how to coach and mentor to elevate the team’s skills, gives strong feedback, and makes content a company-wide strength
- Experience working in a scale-up or startup, where processes were still evolving
- Comfortable with ambiguity and fast-paced environments
- Knows how to balance self-serve SMB users and enterprise sales-led customers, and can adapt content strategy across different buyer journeys
- Understands fintech, compliance, or finance-related products and knows how to make complex financial workflows easy to understand
- Previously implemented content testing frameworks, used analytics tools (e.g., Looker) to track and optimize, and can prove real business impact from content work
Responsibilities
- Build and scale a new high-performing Content Design function at Pleo from the ground up
- Ensure that our UX content, messaging, and frameworks drive adoption, activation, and retention
- Lead a team of 4-5 content designers
- Establish content systems

- Hire at least 1 strong content designer, ensuring alignment with business and product needs
- Audit our UX content, processes, and workflows, identifying opportunities for improvement and scalability
- Contribute to high-impact UX content work, setting the standard for quality
- Establish a well-defined vision for the content design function that aligns with our overall strategy and includes measurable goals
- Establish team processes (critiques, workflows, documentation) to improve content quality and collaboration
- Build working relationships with product design, user research, brand, marketing, localisation and beyond
- Implement a content testing framework, running several A/B experiments to inform content decisions
- Fully staffing the content design team with 4-5 designers, balancing expertise and impact
- Building scalable content systems, reducing reliance on ad-hoc content requests by X%
- Increasing activation and engagement metrics through well-executed content strategies
- Creating a content strategy that differentiates Pleo’s voice, reinforcing trust and engagement in fintech and expense management
- Aligning content strategy across Product, Marketing, and Brand, ensuring consistency
- Establishing clear prioritization frameworks, ensuring content design work is structured and focused on the highest-impact areas
Preferred Qualifications
- Speak more than one language or have experience with localization operations
- Familiar with UX content tools like Ditto or Frontitude
