Summary
Join the Working Families Party (WFP) as their Equity, People, Inclusion, and Culture (EPIC) Director! Lead talent development, performance management, recruiting, and onboarding across WFP's family of organizations. Advise senior leadership, ensuring organizational alignment with WFP's values and mission. Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including the staff union. Oversee staff development, performance management, and HR compliance. Develop and implement equitable policies and practices, driving organizational change. This is a full-time, remote position with a competitive salary and benefits package.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience, including 5+ years in leadership roles within progressive organizations, political parties, or movements
- Extensive experience within human resources operations including compliance management, employee relations, and labor law
- Proven track record in Adult Learning Theory, Leadership development, Organization development, Organizational psychology and/or Human Resources
- Strong expertise in creating and implementing equitable and inclusive policy, with demonstrated success in driving organizational change and holding leaders accountable
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to mediate conflicts and build consensus
- Expert group facilitation skills and an ability to lead engaging, effective meetings virtually and in person
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment, with high emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills
- Approachable, empathetic leadership style, with a strong commitment to economic, racial, and gender justice
Responsibilities
- Identify and implement best practices to cultivate a collaborative, innovative organizational culture that is grounded in WFP core values and creates the conditions to exceed goals
- Ensure alignment between internal processes and external practices and policies and alert senior leadership when it is important to course correct in service of alignment
- Maintain strong relationships with key WFP stakeholders, including the EpicWorks team, department heads, division directors, the National Director, and external partners
- Work closely with stewards of the WFP staff union, Workers’ United Staff, labor counsel and other senior management representatives on the Joint Labor Management Committee to ensure the continuation of effective labor-management relationships
- Collaborate with Human Resources and Operations staff from partner organizations to identify and implement policy tailored to WFP’s needs while contributing to the larger movement’s HR infrastructure
- Serve as a primary point of contact for WFP staff on HR-related issues, ensuring that concerns are addressed in a timely and effective manner
- Advise and coach WFP leaders on best practices in management, team dynamics, and organizational development
- Oversee WFP’s staff development efforts, including recruitment, retention, professional development, and succession planning, ensuring staff are engaged, valued, and developed
- Implement and manage systems and workflows that meet the needs of WFP, while ensuring consistency with the work led by other EpicWorks team members
- Oversee the performance management process for WFP, including setting up evaluation frameworks and conducting performance reviews
- Collaborate with the Employee Relations Director and employment counsel to ensure WFP’s HR policies and practices are in compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including labor laws and employment regulations
- Review and develop regular report on staff demographics, compensation, attrition and development
- Develop auditing tools to review materials, meeting space, etc. . . to be used by all staff to ensure that tools are inclusive and equitable
- Partner with the rest of the EpicWorks team to regularly assess the employee experience at WFP, providing feedback and strategic recommendations to leadership
