Responsibilities

  • Designing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive plan and strategy for aligning external funding with the Schoolโ€™s vision, mission, and goals
  • Coordinate the Schoolโ€™s activities related to philanthropy, i.e., foundations and major donors by expanding upon SLUโ€™s existing relationships and building new ones
  • Identify philanthropic funding opportunities, with a concentration on foundations and individual contributors
  • Develop donor solicitations, create, and evaluate fund-raising appeals, provide regular progress reports to key stakeholders, and develop and execute a professional donor stewardship program
  • Provide leadership and innovative thinking in developing new programs and community engagement activities that will appeal to foundations and private donors
  • Develop a close working relationship with CUNYโ€™s Advancement Office to leverage existing fundraising infrastructure, create efficiencies, and multiply impact
  • Lead the organizational development of the SLUโ€™s nascent Foundation, including the development of its Foundation Board of Directors, and ensuring that the Foundation develops best practices as they relate to governance, financial reporting, program accountability, and compliance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong ties to labor, community, and philanthropic organizations
  • Demonstrated capacity to interact effectively with donors and institutional leaders, with a minimum of five years of experience in proven successful fund-raising activities
