Summary

Join AC Disaster Consulting (ACDC) as an Emergency Management Recovery Intern and gain valuable experience in disaster recovery operations and strategy. Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Political Science or a specialized function of Emergency Management or related field
  • 0-2+ years’ beginner-level knowledge/experience in emergency management principles
  • Beginner-level customer service experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customers and internal information
  • Capable of multi-tasking when necessary
  • Excellent critical thinking, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong desire to help people
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Ability to remain flexible and adapt quickly to changes in roles and projects
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without employer sponsored visa is required
  • Must pass company and any applicable client background check and reference check upon offer of employment

Responsibilities

  • Assist in organizing and reviewing disaster recovery project documentation
  • Conduct research on FEMA Public Assistance and Hazard Mitigation policies
  • Support project managers with administrative tasks and data entry
  • Participate in virtual meetings with clients and internal staff
  • Assist with creating summaries, memos, and reports
  • Monitor project timelines and deliverables
  • Maintain internal document tracking systems
  • Review and catalog historical disaster data for ongoing projects
  • Work on projects that have a direct impact on clients if available/needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of previous emergency management-related internship, volunteering, or work experience
  • Familiarity with FEMA programs or disaster recovery frameworks
  • Current GPA of 3.0 or higher
