Join Minted's Shopping Data team as an Engineering Manager to lead a backend-focused team responsible for the data powering the user shopping experience. You will lead a team of backend engineers, own team execution and growth, partner with other teams on roadmaps, foster a healthy team culture, participate in system design and code reviews, champion engineering best practices, and act as a strategic voice in planning. The ideal candidate possesses 5+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years in engineering management, expertise in backend development and system design, proficiency in programming languages like Python or JavaScript, and strong communication skills. Requirements

  • 5+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years in an engineering management role
  • Expertise in backend development and system design, with a strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and cloud architectures
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or similar, and a solid grasp of SQL and database modeling
  • The ability to communicate technical concepts effectively, both within the engineering team and to non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of backend engineers working on service-oriented systems that power our core shopping data infrastructure
  • Own team execution, delivery, and growth, ensuring projects are well-scoped, prioritized, and delivered on time and at high quality
  • Partner with technical leads, product managers, and other teams to align on roadmaps, dependencies, and long-term technical investments
  • Foster a healthy and inclusive team culture, supporting career development through mentorship, feedback, and growth opportunities
  • Participate in system design reviews, architecture conversations, and code reviews, providing input to ensure technical excellence while advocating for clarity and maintainability
  • Champion engineering best practices, including testing, documentation, reliability, and observability
  • Build and maintain a robust testing system, driving strategy and implementation of unit testing, end-to-end testing, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Act as a strategic voice in planning, balancing short-term product goals with long-term scalability and system resilience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with data modeling and systems that support high-volume transactional or catalog data is a strong plus
  • Proven ability to grow and support engineers at different career stages
  • Strong organizational and execution skills—you help teams get things done while keeping people energized and motivated
  • A people-first leader who values trust, growth, and clear communication
  • Comfortable navigating both product and platform priorities—and making tradeoffs between them when needed
  • A technically curious generalist who asks smart questions and supports sound engineering decisions, even if you’re not writing the code
