Engineering Manager

Summary

Join o1Labs, a leading zero-knowledge tooling provider, as an empathetic Engineering Manager. You will guide and support cross-functional engineering teams, fostering a collaborative and empowering culture. This role involves managing engineers, representing team needs, proposing process improvements, observing team ceremonies, managing performance, and championing team well-being. You will work closely with technical team leads to optimize engineering practices and ensure a stable support system for engineers across multiple teams. o1Labs values autonomy and decision-making at the team level, with Engineering Managers providing consistent support and a broad perspective on engineering culture. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator with experience managing engineering teams and a deep understanding of various engineering methodologies.

Requirements

• Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
• A clear and solid grasp of the merits, pitfalls, and guiding philosophies of various engineering methodologies, and a lack of dogma in applying them
• Experience managing engineering teams alongside technical leads
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative leadership approach
• A sufficient grasp of technical architecture and system design to understand the working context of the team

Responsibilities

• Manage, support and grow a team of talented engineers
• Represent the needs and sentiment of the team to inform decisions pertaining to structure and process within the engineering department
• Participate in these structural and process decisions by proposing and monitoring specific changes and solutions
• Observe team ceremonies and develop best practices in collaboration with technical Team Leads
• Manage performance through objective observation, assessment and feedback
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive environment that enables engineers to do their best work
• Attend to and champion the wellbeing of the team
