Summary
Join Canva's Video Editor team as a Lead Engineer to lead and mentor a team of 5-6 engineers focused on playback and video editing features. You will be responsible for delivering scalable and robust product features, collaborating with stakeholders, driving project planning, fostering a collaborative culture, and owning cross-team initiatives. The ideal candidate possesses experience in technical leadership, frontend development (JavaScript, React, TypeScript, etc.), strong computer science fundamentals, and excellent communication skills. Requirements
- Previous experience in technical people leadership or mentorship of engineers
- Commercial experience in a software development environment, with a focus on frontend technologies and associated libraries and frameworks
- Firmly grounded computer science and engineering fundamentals including concurrency, multithreading, data structures, solution design, architecture, and design patterns
- Previous experience in working collaboratively with team members and communicating effectively
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to break large projects down into smaller ones and deliver on them through others
- Good writing and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
- Lead and coach a team of 5 to 6 engineers focused on playback and video editing features
- Help the team deliver scalable and robust product features for Canva users around the world
- Work closely with the stakeholders to understand and contribute to the product roadmap
- Drive the planning and refinement of cycle goals, ensuring there is alignment between the company, group, and teams
- Foster a culture of collaboration and advocate for the engineering needs of non-technical collaborators within the group
- Own and drive the delivery of large, cross-team, and cross-group initiatives and projects from ideation to completion, with autonomy and independence of decision making
