English Content Writer

Summary

Join IXL Learning's Rosetta Stone team as an English Content Writer! This remote, six-month consulting role (with possible extension) focuses on creating engaging online English courses for intermediate and advanced adult learners. You'll collaborate with a team to develop course content, including dialogues, explanations, vocabulary, and practice activities, for specific industries. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional writing skills, experience in instructional design, and a background in ESL/linguistics. This is a 1099 contract position.

Requirements

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in English as a Second Language, Linguistics, Education, or a related field
• Two years experience in instructional design and curriculum development for adult second language acquisition
• Exceptional writing skills, including a finely tuned sense of English grammar and usage
• Ability to adjust to in-house style and pedagogical guidelines, including the Chicago Manual of Style and the CEFR proficiency scale
• Strong critical-thinking, research, and problem-solving skills
• Can-do attitude with openness to others’ ideas
• Ability to be efficient and organized while working in multiple documents

Responsibilities

• Investigate topics that demonstrate language used in industry-specific scenarios
• Write engaging demonstration dialogues and passages to meet specific educational objectives, based on the lesson structure and sample activities provided by Rosetta Stone’s curriculum design team
• Craft questions, answers, and explanations that adhere to Rosetta Stone curriculum and style guidelines
• Collaborate with curriculum designers, writers, and editors to meet project objectives and deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the Hospitality or First Responders fields
