This remote position (U.S. or Canada) involves hands-on field work managing orphaned oil and gas well plugging projects. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred in a scientific or engineering discipline (chemical, petroleum, mechanical, environmental, or industrial)
  • 5+ years of professional experience managing oil & gas projects, ideally as a carbon project developer
  • Hands-on field experience working with oil and/or gas wells. Should be familiar and comfortable with wellhead handling and one or more of the following areas: drilling and/or workover, well completion, production testing, wireline testing, gas processing, or plugging
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience and adeptness at managing relationships with external partners including technical consultants, energy industry contractors, government and policy officials, and landowners
  • Demonstrated experience with Project Management including planning, setting priorities, managing dependencies, and managing multiple projects across multi-functional teams
  • Willingness to travel to the field and other locations as needed. Schedule may vary; however, estimated up to 30% of time. Due to the various locations of our work, the candidate should be located within close proximity of a major airport
  • Experience performing data analysis and building simple models in Excel or other tools
  • Experience managing direct reports
  • Ability to influence and build relationships with key stakeholders and constituents in a multicultural environment with a variety of different perspectives
  • Ability to embrace ambiguity and create clarity for decision making when a diverse range of options are available
  • Demonstrated track record of approaching problems with an attitude of inquiry and commitment to seeking answers and finding a way to make something work

Responsibilities

  • Work as a part of a team developing a pipeline of orphaned oil and gas well projects
  • Play a key role in managing our orphaned oil and gas well plugging efforts, from the identification of wells, to the quantification of methane emissions, leading well plugging projects, through to project verification and carbon credit issuance
  • Oversight of in-the-field safety efforts and protocols
  • Interfacing with internal and external partners to move projects forward, including but not limited to technicians, contractors, other project managers, and government officials
  • Processing, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data from analytical equipment, historical records, and a variety of databases
  • Researching the technical, market, environmental, and regulatory context of our projects and innovation concepts to identify constraints and opportunities and communicate them clearly in reports, memos, whitepapers, and presentations
  • Understanding governing methodologies, and managing projects to those methodologies to ensure successful carbon credit verification and issuance

Preferred Qualifications

Hands-on experience with chemical or analytical equipment preferred
