External Relations

Summary

Join Ballotpedia's External Relations internship program and gain hands-on experience in American politics. Work alongside full-time staff, assisting with donor relations, strategic partnerships, data management, and research. The internship is part-time (10-20 hours/week), remote, and runs from September 8, 2025 to December 12, 2025. Interns will receive compensation of $15.00/hour (or applicable minimum wage). Ballotpedia may facilitate credit for the internship experience. The program offers opportunities to attend topical meetings and webinars.

Requirements

• Have a well-functioning computer with Internet access
• Provide the following in PDF format: résumé, cover letter which states your interest in External Relations, including the contact information for two professional references, A sample one-page thank you note thanking a donor for their support of Ballotpedia
• Ensure that either your resume or your cover letter includes your current address

Responsibilities

• Assist the department with activities to support Ballotpedia’s donor relations and strategic partnerships
• Be tasked with data entry and data clean-up
• Use Salesforce to produce reports and manage Ballotpedia’s database of external contacts
• Conduct basic research about potential partners and donors for Ballotpedia
• Assist with aspects of donor recognition and record keeping such as donor database entry, thank you note writing, and other donor recognition as appropriate
• Prepare research on elections and other related topics that may be needed for small and large partnerships
• Other projects as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

Some familiarity with Google Applications is helpful

• Interns will be compensated at $15.00 per hour
• If the minimum wage in your area is more than $15.00 per hour, you will be compensated per your area’s minimum wage
