Summary

Join Last Mile Health (LMH) as our next Financial Controller and oversee the financial operations, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting. Maintain accurate financial records, manage the annual consolidated audit process, and support country-specific audits. You will develop financial policies and procedures, manage cash flow forecasting, and continuously improve financial processes. This remote position, open to US Eastern Seaboard candidates only, requires managing and mentoring the finance team, strengthening internal communications, and promoting collaboration. The role demands strong financial expertise, leadership skills, and excellent communication abilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting and/or Finance
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, and donor compliance
  • Significant experience coordinating external audit activities
  • Keen analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated years of experience with financial software and ERP systems
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, board, or other outside partners
  • Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate US GAAP standards and other regulatory requirements
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for the entire organization
  • Review and approve US-based financial transactions
  • Maintain internal control and safeguards for revenue, expenditures, and statutory compliance
  • Manage all external audits
  • Develop organization-wide financial policies and procedures to guide country finance teams
  • Manage organizational cash flow forecasting
  • Oversee the usage and maintenance of financial systems and software
  • Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Manage and mentor the finance team, help to clarify roles and responsibilities, and develop and implement training programs to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals
  • Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization to promote understanding of financial policies and processes
  • Promote collaboration and effective communication within the finance team and across the organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • You have a CPA or Masterโ€™s degree in Accounting
  • You have progressive years of experience in financial management, preferably in the NGO or nonprofit sector
  • You have the ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers
