Financial Controller

Summary

Join Unit4, a high-growth, private equity-backed software company, as their new Financial Controller. This pivotal role requires strategic insight, strong leadership, and hands-on financial expertise to lead accounting operations and ensure high-quality financial reporting. The Financial Controller will review, improve, and standardize processes, manage financial transactions, and streamline accounting functions. They will also support year-end audits, analyze financial data, and ensure compliance. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional numerical proficiency, drive, and a can-do attitude. This position offers a chance to contribute to Unit4’s ambitious growth plans while adhering to internal controls.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of experience in a Financial Controller or similar role within a multinational environment
• Masters degree in Finance, Accounting or any equivalent study
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and compliance standards
• Hands-on experience with financial reporting, audits, and internal controls
• Analytical, detail-oriented mindset with excellent problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Fluent in English (written and verbal)

Responsibilities

• Month-end close activities and reporting
• Completion and filing of the annual financial statements for the legal entities including liaising with local auditors and co-ordination the audit process (across different countries)
• Support with the Annual Group Audit
• Analysing financial data including control of balance sheet accounts
• Managing financial transactions including approval of payments
• Streamlining accounting functions and operations
• Evaluating and managing risk including improvements in internal controls
• System improvements including automation of activities where appropriate
• Support with local compliance (tax / statistics etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferred qualification – Big 4 experience
• Proficient in accounting systems; experience in a shared service or outsourced environment is a plus
