Summary
Join Spring Fertility as a Financial Counselor and assist patients with treatment estimates and insurance coverage. You will work independently, explaining financial information, determining insurance coverage, and educating patients on their options. Daily responsibilities include furnishing treatment estimates, collecting payments, acquiring knowledge of patient insurance, communicating financial status to internal staff, initiating prior authorizations, ensuring reimbursement, identifying and minimizing financial risks, and acting as a resource for registration and insurance questions. This full-time remote position requires a Bachelor's degree, 2+ years of experience in fertility or healthcare, and proficiency in medical terminology, billing, MS Office, and electronic medical records. Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential. Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree
- 2 + years of experience in fertility or healthcare
- Proficient knowledge of medical terminology and billing practices
- Proficiency in MS Office required
- Experience with electronic medical records
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills
- Ability to simplify complex concepts to patients
- Flexible availability which may include working some weekends and holidays
Responsibilities
- Furnish patients and healthcare providers with estimates related to upcoming treatment
- Collect estimated liabilities from patients and apply payments to patient accounts
- Acquire knowledge of patient’s insurance coverage and benefit limits and communicate it to the patients to make them aware of their financial responsibilities
- Communicate to internal staff in a clear and concise manner the financial status of the patient by analyzing and reviewing the patient’s accounts receivables and trying to resolve any issues related to it
- Initiate prior authorization requests per insurance carrier requirements
- Ensure reimbursement is obtained for medical services provided for non-insured and under-insurance patients
- Identify and work to minimize potential financial risk of patient accounts through working daily time of service reports
- Act as a resource representative when questions arise regarding registration errors, proper insurance documentation and accounting correction
