Summary
Join Hike as a Founder's Office Intern and become the automation alchemist, transforming repetitive tasks into efficient workflows and scattered experiments into systematic insights. You will build the infrastructure that empowers the team to work 10x more effectively, focusing on automation and operational efficiency. This role requires a builder mentality, proficiency in AI tools, and a passion for creating systems that scale. You will be responsible for automating processes, conducting rapid experiments, building an automation arsenal, and conducting thorough research. The ideal candidate is a final-year student or recent graduate with a proven track record of shipping projects and a relentless drive to improve efficiency.
Requirements
- You're a builder, not a talker. Final year student or recent grad who's already shipped something—an app, a bot, a newsletter, anything
- AI is your secret weapon. You're not just using ChatGPT/Claude/Gemini for homework. You've made it write code, analyze data, create workflows. You see AI tools everywhere and think "how can I break this?
- You automate before being asked. That Excel task everyone does manually? You've already written a script. You physically hurt when you see people doing repetitive work
- You're dangerously curious. You don't just accept "that's how we do it." You ask why, then build a better way. You read documentation for fun. You know what Zapier, Make, and n8n are—and have opinions
- You learn at 3x speed. New tool? You'll master it by lunch. New framework? You're already building with it. You don't need hand-holding; you need interesting problems
- You ship, then iterate. Your first version might be ugly, but it works. Perfect is the enemy of shipped. You know that done > perfect, always
- You're comfortable with chaos. Startup life isn't structured. Today you're researching competitors, tomorrow you're building a Slack bot, next week you're analyzing user data. You thrive in this
- You document like a pro. Your code has comments. Your experiments have conclusions. You write so clearly that anyone can pick up where you left off
- Your communication is pure signal, zero noise. No fluff, no corporate speak, no 5-paragraph emails when 5 bullets work. You write chat messages that people read. Your updates are crisp: what you did, what you learned, what's next. Period
- You're hungry, not entitled. This isn't about getting "intern" on your resume. You want to build things that matter, learn from people who've done it, and leave a mark
Responsibilities
- Automate everything that moves: Find every process that takes >30 minutes and shouldn't. Build tools using AI, no-code platforms, and whatever else works. Goal: Save the team 20+ hours per week within your first month
- Be the Founder's Swiss Army knife: Research competitors at 9 AM, build a dashboard at noon, experiment with new AI tools at 3 PM. Every day is different, every day you ship something
- Run rapid experiments: Test hypotheses about everything—user behavior, internal processes, new tools. Document what works, kill what doesn't. Move fast, learn faster
- Build our automation arsenal: Create a library of tools, bots, and workflows that make everyone's life easier. From Slack bots to data pipelines, if it can be automated, you'll automate it
- Research like a detective: Dig deep into markets, competitors, and trends. But don't just make slides—turn insights into action. Your research directly influences decisions
- Create systems that scale: Build documentation, processes, and tools that work without you. Your internship might end, but your impact won't
- Break things (productively): Test new AI tools, experiment with workflows, try approaches that might fail. We need someone who pushes boundaries, not follows playbooks
- Measure everything: Set up tracking for your experiments. Know what worked, what didn't, and why. Data beats opinions, always
- Level up the entire team: Share your discoveries. That new AI tool you found? Teach others. That workflow you built? Make it team-wide. Be a force multiplier
