Summary

Join SoundHound AI as the General Manager for Smart Answering, our leading AI-powered phone answering solution. This is a remote position available across most of the United States, with a salary range of $180,000-$245,000 plus equity and comprehensive benefits.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of leadership experience in a GM, VP, or similar role, with a proven ability to scale early-stage SaaS or AI businesses
  • Deep expertise in SMB go-to-market strategies, including low-touch sales, digital funnels, and channel partnerships
  • Founder-like mindset—comfortable operating in ambiguity, taking ownership, and making data-driven decisions at speed
  • Exceptional business acumen and strong P&L management experience
  • A customer-first mentality, with a proven track record of integrating user feedback into product strategy
  • Strong data-driven decision-making skills, leveraging analytics to navigate ambiguity and guide strategy
  • Outstanding leadership and team-building skills, with a history of attracting, motivating, and retaining top talent
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience influencing C-level executives, partners, and cross-functional teams
  • Passion for AI, technology innovation, or transformative solutions that impact how businesses operate
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree; MBA or advanced degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute Smart Answering’s vision, strategy, and go-to-market plan to drive adoption and establish market leadership
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team across Product, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success (including direct and indirect reports), ensuring fast execution and adaptability
  • Own the P&L, driving revenue while optimizing costs and operational efficiency
  • Develop, implement, and optimize scalable customer acquisition strategies—including self-service funnels, digital marketing, and channel partnerships—to efficiently grow the SMB customer base
  • Engage directly with customers, implement structured feedback loops, and drive continuous improvements to ensure the product roadmap aligns with market needs
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to ensure Smart Answering evolves to meet market needs while leveraging SoundHound’s core conversational AI capabilities
  • Leverage data-driven insights to continuously refine strategy, assess market opportunities, and navigate competitive dynamics
  • Work closely with the executive leadership team to align Smart Answering’s growth strategy with SoundHound’s broader objectives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience scaling a SaaS or tech-enabled SMB-focused products (e.g., CRM, telephony, customer service platforms)
  • A background in conversational AI, voice technology, or related fields
  • Experience in building channel ecosystems or digital funnels that accelerated customer acquisition
