Gis Developer

Summary

Join our team as a GIS Developer and contribute to a conservation data platform. This long-term, 100% remote contract position requires a Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience. You will develop performant GIS applications, assist with data pipeline design, and work with large geospatial datasets. Proficiency in open-source and ESRI technologies is essential, along with experience in Python and various GIS software. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and experience working in a SAFe Agile Scrum team. Public Trust clearance is required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, geography, geosciences, or related field
• 6+ years of related experience
• 5+ years working with GIS software, including open-source and COTS GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, QGIS, MapServer, GeoServer, GRASS GIS)
• 3+ years developing with open-source and COTS web mapping frameworks, including ESRI JavaScript API, Leaflet, OpenLayers, and MapLibre
• 3+ years writing Python for geospatial analysis and automation (including open-source and ESRI geospatial libraries)
• Experience working with open-source GIS frameworks
• Experience with FME and/or other ETL technologies
• Experience working with large natural resource or scientific geospatial datasets
• Experience working with raster datasets and their derivatives
• Experience with spatial analysis, statistical analysis, and/or geospatial data modeling
• Experience writing Postgres/PostGIS, SQL Server Spatial, or Oracle Spatial backend queries
• Excellent communication skills

• Develop performant GIS applications to display results of analytical modeling

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing with geospatial AI/ML technologies
• Experience with Voyager Search
• Experience with Docker and developing applications within an AWS environment
• Experience with RStudio, .NET Core, TypeScript, and/or React
• Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or other dashboard technologies for data science visualization and reporting
• SAFe certification or experience working in an agile environment
