High School History Teacher

Summary

Join Guidepost Academy, a virtual middle and high school, as a High School History Teacher. This fully remote position (9am-4pm PST) offers the chance to work with a team of passionate educators in a fast-paced environment. You will individualize the history curriculum, facilitate student progress through coaching and assessment, and teach 1-2 electives. The school emphasizes a Montessori-inspired approach, focusing on student agency and self-directed learning. While Montessori experience isn't required, a passion for history, strong communication skills, and a commitment to student development are essential. Guidepost Academy is committed to building a diverse and inclusive community.

Requirements

• Have a demonstrated passion for History
• Have exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Are an experienced mentor, coach, or advisor of adolescents who wants to help individual students explore their passions, overcome challenges, and surpass expectations
• Have a deep commitment to the pursuit of truth

Responsibilities

• Work with GPA program experts to apply and individualize the GPA History curriculum for your classroom
• Facilitate student progression through the History coursework through regular feedback and assessment and opportunities to apply these topics in interdisciplinary projects and real-world problems
• 1:1 coaching to a cohort of students where you are fully invested in all aspects of their personal, academic, and social development and supporting our community through community time once a week
• Teaching 1-2 Elective courses (bring your own interests and share them with our students!)
• Establishing and modeling a strong, supportive community that upholds GPA’s core values at all times
• Working closely with your colleagues on campus and throughout the GPA network to continually improve the program and support our students
• Partner with parents to ensure students are fully supported at home and at school
