Requirements

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, with experience handling sensitive employee relations issues discreetly and effectively
  • Demonstrate the ability in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures
  • Possess experience ensuring compliance to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, especially as applicable to remote workforces across multiple states
  • Possess experience in managing employee benefits programs, including annual benefits selection and administration
  • Have hands-on experience with payroll processing, including handling variable compensation and ensuring accuracy
  • Possess advanced skills in Microsoft Excel or similar tools
  • Understand income statement, balance sheet, and general ledger

Responsibilities

  • Manage the employee feedback process through regular surveys and other data collection methods
  • Monitor key HR metrics such as turnover rates, hiring costs, and employee satisfaction
  • Report insights to our management team to support strategic decision-making
  • Annually review and select employee benefits packages that best align with our organizational goals
  • Manage and administer all aspects of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, COBRA, 401(k), and leave policies
  • Serve as the first point of contact for the team regarding any benefits-related inquiries or issues
  • Update and implement HR policies and procedures that reflect our core values and promote an efficient, secure, and positive workplace culture
  • Run monthly and off cycle payrolls including the calculation of regular and variable compensation
  • Assist in the oversight of time entry and month end project reporting
  • Register Emergent Software for payroll tax, sales tax, secretary of state, etc. in each state with Nexus as required by Rippling and our accounting team
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws across the federal, state, and local levels, particularly as a fully-remote company operating in over 20 states
  • Serve as a confidential point of contact for employees to discuss issues, questions, or ideas outside of their direct management channels
  • Manage the orientation of new team members and the integration or exit processes for employees and contractors across operational systems, benefits, and rewards programs
  • Oversee company credit cards and expense reimbursements
  • Organize and administer ongoing cross-functional (not role-specific) employee training programs
  • Oversee our EEO program, including tracking and reporting on progress to government agencies
  • Assist in organizing our annual in-person employee event, Emergent Connect, in collaboration with our leadership team and event coordinator

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possess proficiency in using Office 365 applications beyond Excel, such as PowerPoint for presentations and SharePoint for document management
  • Have experience working in HR within the technology consulting industry, understanding its unique challenges and demands
  • Be familiar with Rippling HRIS platform; experience with other HR Information Systems (HRIS) is also beneficial
  • Have experience in designing and implementing training programs across various teams
  • Have experience in staffing and recruitment processes, particularly in liaising with staffing agencies
  • Possess skills in planning and coordinating corporate events, which would be useful for managing company-wide gatherings
  • Have double entry, accrual-based accounting knowledge including experience creating journal entries
