Junior Accountant

Summary

Join HyperionDev, a leading provider of accelerated tech education, as a Financial Accountant. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting financial reporting, analysis, and compliance. Responsibilities include managing payments, preparing financial statements, and assisting with audits. This position requires a degree in accounting or finance, at least 3 years of experience, and strong attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have experience with UK or US accounting practices and familiarity with cloud accounting software. Requirements

• Must have completed a degree in Accounting, Finance or a relevant field
• At least 3 years of experience in an accounting role
• Experience and understanding of applicable accounting principles and compliance requirements
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent time-management, task-management and organisational skills
• Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly payment runs
• Prepare monthly commission schedules
• Load payments to bank accounts, ready to release
• Reconcile and review staff benefit payments
• Manage weekly cash flow forecasts
• Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts
• Prepare accrual and prepayment schedules
• Create intercompany invoices and supporting schedules
• Support in the preparation of management reports
• Preparation of departmental spend reports
• Maintain an accurate, complete fixed asset register - additions and disposals
• Run monthly depreciation calculations
• Assisting in the preparation audit files for all entities
• Providing support during the audit as required
• Preparing PAYE, NIC, VAT and other tax computations for the UK, US and SA companies
• Support in preparing for and meeting statutory and regulatory requirements
• Ensure policies and processes are properly documented and adhered to

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with UK or US accounting practices and relevant laws
• Prior experience in a fast-paced tech startup or cloud accounting practice
• Exposure to a multi-currency environment
• Hands-on experience with Google Sheets, Docs and Slides
• Experience using Xero
