Junior Legal Counsel

Summary

Join our team as Jr. Legal Counsel and provide critical legal support across various areas, including contracts, compliance, privacy, intellectual property, and employment law.

Requirements

• J.D. degree required
• Bar admission in good standing or pending admission in at least one US jurisdiction (NY preferred); without admission in New York, must be eligible to register as New York In-House Counsel
• 1+ years of legal experience; in-house experience preferred
• Experience with contracts; demonstrated negotiation, communication, and drafting skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated project management skills
• Experience with IP and privacy a plus
• CIPP a plus
• NY Notary a plus

Responsibilities

• Draft agreements and negotiate contracts for various business transactions, including school and district agreements, vendor agreements, data privacy agreements, RFPs, NDAs and more
• Assist the legal team in developing and executing compliance programs and associated internal trainings to ensure compliance with current company processes and procedures
• Assist the legal team in developing and executing programs to ensure compliance with COPPA, FERPA, and other privacy protection laws and education laws, updating the privacy policies and monitoring relevant laws and regulations
• Oversee registration of new IP, monitoring infringement of IP by third parties
• Assist with day to day legal team functions such as vendor forms, COI requests, responding to data deletion requests, contract management etc
