Summary

Join Continental as an L3 Network Engineer and manage and maintain our network infrastructure for VPN and Business Partner Access. Oversee VPN gateways, firewalls, load balancers, MS Guest Accounts, Site-to-Site tunnels, and the BPAT portal. Perform hardware patching, configure network infrastructure, handle 3rd-level IT tickets, and coordinate with external partners. Work in a dynamic, collaborative environment, setting the direction of DevOps and agile working. Drive escalation and problem management processes, prepare environmental changes, and maintain detailed documentation. Assist customers with process improvements and training. Ensure regular monitoring, backup, and restore operations. Perform feasibility studies and vendor evaluations.

Requirements

  • Education in IT and network areas
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in network engineering or a related role, with a focus on VPN gateways, firewalls and loadbalancers, and complex network infrastructures
  • Strong understanding of VPN technologies and firewall configurations
  • Experience with MS Guest Accounts and Site-to-Site VPN tunnels
  • Experience with BPAT Tool and network monitoring tools
  • Ability to solve complex network problems/issues using appropriate diagnostic and monitoring tools
  • Ability to handle complex IT tickets and provide expert-level support
  • Proficient in English, both spoken and written and intercultural sensitivity
  • Experience in managing external service providers and a very good understanding of IT compliance and data security topics

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain network infrastructure for VPN and Business Partner Access
  • Oversee VPN gateways, firewalls, and load balancers
  • Manage MS Guest Accounts and Site-to-Site tunnels
  • Maintain the BPAT portal
  • Perform hardware patching and configuration of network infrastructure
  • Handle 3rd level IT tickets
  • Coordinate with external partners
  • Drive escalation and problem management processes
  • Coordinate complex incident and problem resolution with internal IT teams and external service providers
  • Provide expert resolution and support
  • Prepare changes to the environment and maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, processes, and procedures
  • Steer and coordinate with external partners to ensure seamless integration and support of network services
  • Assist customers with process improvements, documentation, training and usability efforts
  • Oversee and manage VPN gateways, firewalls, MS Guest Accounts, Site-to-Site tunnels, and custom-built software portals
  • Conduct hardware patching and configuration of complex network infrastructure to maintain optimal performance and security
  • Ensure and perform regular monitoring, backup and restore operations to ensure network stability and data integrity
  • Maintain detailed documentation of the Access services, including processes, procedures, and user guides
  • Perform feasibility studies and IT concepts, market research and vendor evaluations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent
  • Experience with network security solutions and protocols
  • Experience in automation for on-premise and virtual environments (e.g., Ansible, Terraform)
  • Knowledge in agile frameworks, ITSM processes and DevOps (automation, infrastructure/configuration as code)
