Lead 3D Character Artist

Summary

Magic Media is seeking a Lead 3D Character Artist to mentor a team, create character assets, and collaborate with various departments. The ideal candidate has at least 6 years of experience in character art, is proficient in Unreal and/or Unity, and has excellent organizational skills.

Requirements

• An accomplished artist with 6+ years of experience within the character art discipline
• 2+ years of experience as a Lead Character Artist in game development using Unreal and/or Unity
• Expert knowledge of anatomy, form, silhouette design, and detail hierarchy
• Exceptional sculpting and poly modeling skills for generating organic and hard surface character assets
• Comprehensive knowledge of multiple major 3D and 2D packages and techniques for Characters, Creatures, and Costuming
• Demonstrated experience creating PBR textures and a strong understanding of the PBR texturing workflow
• Deep technical knowledge of modern pipelines, workflows, and techniques for developing characters with clean topology

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of artists
• Create a diverse range of high-quality character assets
• Partner closely with producers in helping delegate tasks, plan estimates, and arrange meetings
• Work with clients in upholding their artistic vision
• Partner with Tech Art and Engineering throughout development
• Help continues to expand the capabilities of the Character Art team
• Engage in technical and aesthetic problem-solving efforts
• Be proactive about elevating your team's concerns to the larger team
• Help work with recruiting exceptionally talented artists
