Summary

Join Protective's Employee Benefits Division as a Lead Associate, Strategic Partnerships and Business Development, where you will play a crucial role in driving growth and protecting more members. This newly created position involves leading a team, building strategic frameworks, and managing national broker firms, general agencies, PEOs, carrier partners, payroll firms, and other trading partners to accelerate growth and build long-term strategic relationships. You will leverage data and analytics to develop business plans and frameworks, execute on those plans, and collaborate with various stakeholders to achieve impactful scalable solutions and partnerships. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills, as well as a passion for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (MBA preferred)
  • At least 10 years of relevant insurance experience
  • Strong organizational, teamwork and management skills
  • Ability to lead people and cultivate talent
  • Emphasis on data and analytics to build business cases
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Experience performing in a highly regulated, fast-paced environment
  • Strong intellectual and analytical skills combined with pragmatic problem-solving know how
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and reporting requirements established internally and externally
  • Demonstrated success defining and launching successful programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Responsibilities

  • Working with distribution leaders to identify large scale opportunities and then leading a team to build relationships with these entities and nurture them so that we grow and protect revenue with these partners all with them viewing ShelterPoint as their preferred carrier for state mandated disability and PFML insurance products
  • Ability to build strategic frameworks and sound data backed business plans that support growth with the executive presence to present to senior leaders
  • Coach team and hold them accountable for conducting stewardship meetings with partners to ensure alignment and where needed participate in such meetings
  • Lead a team, recruit talent, and bring strong talent management to the organization
  • Analyze data to determine underpenetrated markets, diversify our business, and identify opportunistic business development opportunities, then develop a pipeline to closely monitor and close these opportunities to accelerate growth, enhance retention, and align with profit objectives
  • Ability to hit and surpass financial and other key performance goals and objectives across the organization, then coordinating and reporting on performance against these goals and objectives
  • Building compensation programs for partners that align with driving the right behaviors, sales, and profit objectives
  • Rigorous pipeline management of new and existing partnership opportunities to accelerate growth and retain customers
  • Establishes strong relationship with matrix partners such as Sales, IT, Service, Operations, Actuarial, Finance, Legal, UW, etc
  • Lead, build, and develop current and new team members
  • Facilitates discussions with senior stakeholders to clear roadblocks and achieve consensual decisions to enable continued execution
  • Strong acumen towards data and analytics to make fact-based decisions
  • Proclivity towards and experience with leveraging technology based solutions that optimize sales performance and accelerate sales
  • Provide strategic direction to executive leadership regarding partnership landscape, process improvements, as well as industry trends
  • Responsible for feedback on organizational structure to help optimize performance, reinforce culture, and talent management, for both current team members and to attract new employees
  • Facilitating high quality enterprise decision making by prioritizing relevant issues, gathering required information (competitive, operational and other), and proposing solutions
  • Build and execute yearly business plans and hold team members accountable for their own plans
  • Champion continuous improvement to increase customer satisfaction for our products and services
  • Regularly interacts with the SVP, Distribution, EBD to ensure all financial metrics are met and high level of customer satisfaction
  • Meet all objectives and goals set forth by executive leadership
  • Assist with additional duties/projects as assigned by management
