Summary

Join Thumbtack's Business Operations Program Management (BOPM) team as a Lead Business Operations Program Manager to support Engineering, Product, Analytics, and Design (EPAD) teams. You will own strategic initiatives end-to-end, working with functional leaders to identify opportunities, drive alignment, and implement solutions. This role requires strong systems thinking and the ability to thrive in complex environments. You will act as a connective tissue across functions, managing cross-team initiatives and ensuring EPAD teams have the right tools and processes. The ideal candidate is excited by operational puzzles, cross-functional impact, and building the future of how great tech teams work. This is a virtual-first role.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in strategy, business operations, or program management roles within high growth tech or similarly fast paced, ambiguous environments
  • Direct experience supporting or collaborating with technical orgs (Product, Engineering, Analytics, or Design), with a clear grasp of how these teams operate and what slows them down
  • Led cross-functional initiatives from 0 to 1, independently scoping the work, building alignment across functions, and managing execution without needing a roadmap handed to you
  • Worked directly with executive stakeholders, turning loosely defined goals into clear plans, influencing through insight (not authority), and navigating shifting priorities with confidence

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Partnership and Execution: You’ll be the go-to partner for our Chief Product Officer, Chief Technology Officer, and EPAD leaders when it's time to bring strategy off the slide deck and into the real world. This means building smart, phased plans that account for the messy middle; things like team bandwidth, decision maker alignment, and rollout timing. You’ll spot risks early, read between the lines in leadership conversations, and help drive the projects that move the business forward
  • Operational Excellence and Team Coordination: You won’t just run meetings, you’ll make them matter. You’ll shape agendas around what’s actually discussion worthy, keep fast moving conversations focused, and make sure outcomes result in action. When priorities compete (they will), you’ll help navigate trade-offs and keep things moving without spinning wheels
  • Cross-functional Collaboration and Alignment: This role is about being the glue across EPAD. You’ll notice when teams are working in parallel without talking, and step in to connect the dots. You’ll make sure the right people are in the room at the right time, and that we’re not reinventing the wheel across our objectives
  • Project Management and Analytics: You're not here to make spreadsheets for the sake of it, you're here to make data-driven decisions. You’ll define what success really looks like for a project, build systems to track it, and course correct if things drift. Whether it’s launching a new process or sunsetting something that’s not working, your goal is always the same: make it easier for great teams to do great work
  • Future of Work and Team Culture: We’re virtual-first but not virtual-only, and this role helps that model thrive across EPAD. You’ll co-create rituals that make async feel human, curate in-person gatherings to keep teams connected, and ensure culture doesn’t get lost in the logistics. You’ll drive key people workstreams, turning engagement survey insights into actionable initiatives that strengthen employee experience and organizational health
