Summary
Join Willow, a global leader in digitizing the build world, as a Legal Counsel on a maternity leave contract until the end of March 2026. This impactful role offers a part-time opportunity for a first-class legal professional with initiative and drive. You will provide legal advice to cross-functional teams, negotiate deals with blue-chip clients, manage Willow’s insurance portfolio, and balance business goals with legal risks. The role also involves potential involvement in investor relations and future capital raising initiatives. Requirements
- 3-5 years PQE and be admitted to practise as a solicitor in Australia with a current practising certificate
- Strong experience in a well-regarded law firm and/or in-house business
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and sound judgement in managing complex and sensitive matters
Responsibilities
- Responsibility for providing and managing legal advice to cross-functional teams. You will work closely with, and report to, the Acting General Counsel
- Help negotiate deals to help the business grow in Australia and internationally with blue-chip clients
- Manage Willow’s insurance portfolio
- Be flexible and able to prioritise competing priorities under time pressure
- Develop maturity to balance business goals with legal risks in line with the business’s risk appetite
- Translate complex legal issues into succinct and clear advice to enable quick and easy decision making by stakeholders
- Additionally, there is potential for involvement in investor relations and future capital raising initiatives, providing a unique opportunity to influence the strategic direction and financial growth of the company
- Most importantly, can help grow a thriving Australian start-up into a globally recognised market leader
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience dealing with commercial/SaaS contracts, intellectual property, and Australian labour law is a bonus (but not essential)
- Exposure to US commercial/SaaS contracts beneficial
