Join Willow, a global leader in digitizing the build world, as a Legal Counsel on a maternity leave contract until the end of March 2026. Requirements

• 3-5 years PQE and be admitted to practise as a solicitor in Australia with a current practising certificate
• Strong experience in a well-regarded law firm and/or in-house business
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and sound judgement in managing complex and sensitive matters

Responsibilities

• Responsibility for providing and managing legal advice to cross-functional teams. You will work closely with, and report to, the Acting General Counsel
• Help negotiate deals to help the business grow in Australia and internationally with blue-chip clients
• Manage Willow’s insurance portfolio
• Be flexible and able to prioritise competing priorities under time pressure
• Develop maturity to balance business goals with legal risks in line with the business’s risk appetite
• Translate complex legal issues into succinct and clear advice to enable quick and easy decision making by stakeholders
• Additionally, there is potential for involvement in investor relations and future capital raising initiatives, providing a unique opportunity to influence the strategic direction and financial growth of the company
• Most importantly, can help grow a thriving Australian start-up into a globally recognised market leader

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience dealing with commercial/SaaS contracts, intellectual property, and Australian labour law is a bonus (but not essential)
• Exposure to US commercial/SaaS contracts beneficial
