Summary

Join AST SpaceMobile and help build the first space-based cellular broadband network! As a Mission Operations Technical Program Manager, you will manage multiple projects supporting the development and operations of a satellite constellation. You will work closely with Mission Operations managers, track tasks, report metrics, and ensure configuration management and quality control. This critical role ensures the successful operation of the AST SpaceMobile satellite constellation. The position is based in Lanham, MD, with remote work options available. You will define tasks, develop project tracking, communicate with stakeholders, define resources, identify and resolve gaps, develop and report timelines, and identify innovative performance metrics. You will also support system development activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) field
  • Comfortable working in a Windows environment
  • High attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to document tasks and track them to closure
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence)
  • Familiarity with satellite command and control operations software and products
  • Familiarity with engineering analysis tools
  • Project management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently when necessary
  • High level of problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to work in an environment with rapidly evolving requirements
  • Self-starter willing to take ownership and initiative
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to work in a remote, distributed team with diversified individuals with varying backgrounds to achieve mission success
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in high stress environments

Responsibilities

  • Define tasks required for specific projects
  • Develop and maintain project tracking using Jira
  • Communicate with stakeholders to document accurate task completion data
  • Define required resources for specific tasks
  • Identify gaps, and work to resolve them to achieve specific goals
  • Develop, track, and report project timelines
  • Identify innovative performance metrics for operational tasks such as in-orbit satellite tests
  • Define requirement for automated collection of performance metrics
  • Support development and maintenance of on-orbit procedures
  • Develop process for configuration management of operations products such as mission operations procedures, mission rules, test plans , telemetry displays , and other mission operations products
  • Support system development activities such as design reviews, readiness reviews, requirements management, architecture development, integration & test, and formal program milestones

Preferred Qualifications

2-5+ years' experience is preferred
