Technical Program Manager

Summary

Join Stripe as a Manager of Technical Program Managers (TPMs) and lead high-performing teams across multiple locations. You will define and deliver long-term strategies for company-wide programs, collaborating with product management and engineering leadership. Responsibilities include building and managing teams, setting operational cadences, and bringing technical expertise to program execution. You will mentor and coach managers and senior contributors, fostering healthy and effective cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of management experience, 8+ years in software or systems engineering, and extensive experience in talent development. Experience driving technical programs at scale and leading TPM teams is essential.

Requirements

• 3+ years of management experience of varying seniority, including growing teams, people development
• 8+ years of software engineering, systems engineering or technical product/program management experience
• Extensive experience in finding and growing talent through coaching, mentoring, and career development conversations
• Experience driving technical programs from ideation to delivery at scale and leading teams of Technical Program Managers who have done the same
• Experience operating autonomously and leading across multiple teams, with stakeholders in different disciplines across time zones
• Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and thought leadership

Responsibilities

• Build, lead and manage high-performing teams and individuals, across multiple locations, including providing performance reviews, continual feedback, and career growth
• Define and deliver on long-term vision and multi-year strategy for company-wide programs collaborating with product management and engineering leadership/executives
• Partner with leaders to set the strategy of the overall group and define the operating model
• Set the bar for program execution by ensuring teams use optimal and effective operational cadences with consistent communication and proactive risk management
• Bring technical expertise to bear on program execution
• Deliver value through strong collaboration with multiple stakeholders across Stripe
• Mentor and coach managers and senior contributors to create healthy and well-executing cross-functional teams

• You are comfortable working with geographically distributed teams
• You’ve managed teams that designed and operated critical infrastructure
• You are empathetic to customer needs but visionary enough to not just deliver a faster horse
• You are excited about collaborating with teammates across Stripe’s organization
• Past experience as an engineer or similar technical role
