Join MoveOn, a leading political campaigning organization, as their Mobilization Director. In this role, you will lead the planning and execution of events and mobilizations to advance advocacy and electoral campaigns. You will develop and implement strategic mobilization tactics, manage high-impact events, and collaborate with internal and external partners. The position requires at least 7 years of experience leading digital campaigns and a deep understanding of distributed organizing. MoveOn offers a competitive salary of $131,819.10, excellent benefits, and the opportunity to work remotely from anywhere in the contiguous U.S. The ideal candidate will be a creative and strategic thinker with strong project management skills and a commitment to MoveOn's mission and values.
Requirements
- At least 7 years experience leading digital campaigns that mobilize people online and offline, promote progressive values with a clear equity lens, and make change in the world
- Proficient campaign strategist with deep knowledge of distributed organizing
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and partners around a project or campaign resulting in effective implementation
- Strong project management skills and experience, including management of logistical requirements during mobilization, special projects, etc
- Comfort with digital campaign tools (including Mobile Commons, Action Network, Mobilize America, Spoke, and more) and ability to quickly learn new ones as needed
- Demonstrated commitment to MoveOn’s mission and values
- Strong writing skills
- Experience with and deep commitment to applying anti-oppression frameworks and practices—especially with regard to racial, gender, and economic injustice—to work they have led. Ideal candidates would have worked with racial justice-oriented coalitions, organizations, and campaigns in the past
Responsibilities
- Develop and propose bold, strategic, and creative mobilization tactics that advance campaign goals, harness credible theories of change and engage the public in meaningful ways
- Projects may include, but are not limited to, large-scale distributed mobilizations, GOTV (i.e. concerts, rallies, tours), rapid response actions, organizing programs, and any MoveOn-led conferences or forums
- Lead execution of high-impact events and activations—sometimes by coordinating cross-functional internal teams, with allies, or vendors, and other times by rolling up your sleeves to handle every detail solo
- Serve as a collaborative and reliable project manager, guiding colleagues through complex initiatives while staying nimble and grounded
- Represent the organization in coalition spaces and external partnerships, building movement alignment and driving joint action
- Balance visionary thinking with hands-on implementation, maintaining a low-ego, high-output approach to getting things done
- Ensure MoveOn mobilization and events comply with organizational policies (particularly around event safety) and are legally compliant
- Utilize the full range of MoveOn’s digital campaigning tools, including email, mobile messaging, petition, call alert, event, and querying platforms
Preferred Qualifications
- Harbor a working knowledge of digital activism and familiarity with organizing environments
- Be keenly attentive to political and current events, and have a good grasp on the national progressive movement ecology
- Think outside of the box, infuse creativity and innovation into their approach to digital campaigning and organizing
- Ability to triage and stay collected amidst urgency while moving proactively on longer-term projects in slower moments
- Have the ability to stay nimble and move quickly without sacrificing process and structure to ensure legal and operational compliance
- Have experience with and a commitment to applying anti-oppression frameworks, especially regarding racial, gender, and economic injustice
