Summary

The Operations Manager (Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador) is a permanent full-time position at Second Harvest, a food rescue organization. The role involves supporting the expansion of food rescue operations in Atlantic Canada, building partnerships, engaging with stakeholders, and managing staff. The salary range is $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per annum plus benefits. The position is based in Halifax, NS or St. John’s, NL with no regular on-site requirements. The ideal candidate is strategic, partnership-minded, a communicator, naturally curious, entrepreneurial, analytical, flexible, and has experience in a client/customer-facing role within the food industry.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong regional partnerships
• Engage with diverse audiences to deliver presentations and participate in speaking engagements
• Provide best-in-class customer service to food donor and non-profit partners
• Lead orientations and refresher training sessions for current donors and nonprofits
• Manage staff, establishing a positive team dynamic and monitoring performance and development goals
• Assess capacity gaps and opportunities to improve food rescue operations
• Support the Marketing and Communications division to garner media interest and engagement
• Attend relevant conferences and trade shows across Atlantic Canada, network with potential partners, help organize and lead food collections
• Maintain ongoing reporting and data collection to support continued growth and optimization
• Implement ongoing quality and efficiency improvements
• Perform other related duties as required or assigned to support the overall goals of the organization

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a client/customer-facing role within the food industry is an asset
• Interest in sustainability, food rescue, and hunger relief

Benefits

• Salary range: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 Per Annum Plus Benefits
• Able to travel across Atlantic Canada and have a Valid Class 5 driver’s license (mileage compensated)
