Summary

Join GoGlobal as a Japan and/or South Korea Payroll Subject Matter Expert (SME) and become the primary expert on payroll regulations, compliance, and best practices in these regions. You will oversee end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and timely execution while maintaining compliance with local labor laws and tax regulations. This role involves guiding payroll processes, supporting client implementations, and optimizing payroll operations. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive process improvements and provide expert support for payroll-related matters. You will also conduct payroll reconciliations, audits, and compliance checks, staying updated on regulatory changes and implementing necessary adjustments. This position combines hands-on payroll processing with strategic SME responsibilities, ensuring both compliance and efficiency.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Japan and/or Korea payroll experience, including in-house payroll processing and compliance
  • Deep knowledge of Japan and/or Korea’s payroll legislation, tax regulations, and employment standards
  • Experience with payroll implementations, process optimization, and automation
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex payroll issues
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining payroll concepts to various stakeholders
  • Proficiency in different payroll software and Microsoft Excel

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and execute end-to-end payroll processing for Japan and/or Korea, ensuring timely and accurate payroll runs
  • Maintain compliance with the local labor laws, tax regulations, and reporting requirements
  • Ensure proper calculations for statutory deductions, benefits, and remittances
  • Conduct payroll reconciliations, audits, and compliance checks
  • Stay updated on changes and implement necessary payroll adjustments
  • Assist in onboarding and implementation of payroll solutions for Japanese and/or Korean clients
  • Advise clients on payroll best practices, configuration, and process optimization
  • Troubleshoot payroll issues, ensuring timely and accurate resolutions
  • Work closely with internal teams (HR, Finance, Implementation) to align payroll processes with business needs
  • Identify inefficiencies in payroll operations and implement best practices to enhance accuracy and efficiency
  • Support payroll automation and system enhancements, collaborating with IT and product teams
  • Develop and maintain payroll documentation, SOPs, and training materials
  • Act as a trusted advisor for payroll-related inquiries from internal teams and clients
  • Provide training sessions on Japanese and Korean payroll regulations and system usage
  • Work closely with external partners, including payroll vendors and government agencies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Payroll certification is preferred
  • Fluency in Japanese or Korean language (written and verbal)
