Summary

Join Wave, a leading financial institution in Africa, as a Senior Data Analyst on the People Tech team. You will be embedded within the People Tech team, collaborating closely with various teams to derive insights from people data, visualize and communicate these insights to improve user and business outcomes. Analyze and mine data for trends and patterns related to diversity, turnover, retention, talent acquisition, and reward. Ensure high standards of data privacy, accuracy, and quality. Oversee dashboard and data warehouse functionality, working with other teams to ensure data quality and system integrity. Navigate large datasets to identify drivers for improvement and generate testable hypotheses. Take ownership of projects, ad-hoc requests, and communicate findings to stakeholders. Create and maintain People Analytics dashboards and support the team with day-to-day requests. This role offers remote work flexibility (UTC -5 to +2), annual travel to Africa, a yearly stipend, competitive salary with equity, and excellent benefits.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience as a People analyst, data analyst, product analyst, business analyst or similar role
  • Strong demonstrable experience in working with large datasets with thorny identity problems
  • Strong SQL and python experience, with a strong preference for candidates who’ve worked with dbt, fivetran and dagster (or an equivalent orchestration tool)
  • Proficiency in basic statistical analysis, data cleaning, preparation and data manipulation
  • Experience working with data visualization platforms such as Looker, Tableau, Periscope etc
  • Strong data visualization and communication skills. Being able to communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders is a key skill we are looking for

Responsibilities

  • Be embedded in the People Tech team where you will work closely with a People Tech manager, the wider People Ops teams and in some cases teams outside of People Ops such as Support teams
  • Derive insights from People data, visualize and communicate these in ways that improve user and business outcomes
  • Analyze and mine data for trends and patterns with a focus on diversity, turnover, retention, talent acquisition, reward, and other areas of the business as required
  • Help to identify and communicate data issues/concerns to maximise data quality and improve insight
  • Ensure high standards of data privacy, accuracy, and quality are maintained
  • Oversee dashboard and data warehouse functionality, working closely with People Operations, IT, and data engineering teams to ensure data quality, data governance, and system integrity
  • Navigate large data sets to identify drivers that can improve People outcomes and generate testable hypotheses
  • Take ownership of your projects (with support from your manager), adhoc requests and communicate findings to stakeholders
  • Create and maintain People Analytics dashboards
  • Support People Tech in day to day adhoc requests and data change requests

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference for candidates who have worked within a People team/HR setting
  • Have a strong analytical mindset
  • Have worked within a people team/HR setting
  • Can communicate clearly with technical and non-technical colleagues in different teams
  • Have worked in a People environment, analysing People data
  • Are able to work fairly independently. An expectation is that you’ll be able to manage. your own projects (with the support of your manager and broader team)
  • Have experience of working with large, unclean data sets
