Summary
Join Velocity Global as a People Business Partner (PBP) based in Colombia, supporting employees and leaders across the Americas, with a focus on LATAM. As a trusted advisor, you will partner with business leaders, supporting organizational effectiveness, talent planning, performance management, and employee engagement. You will work cross-functionally to deliver people strategies aligned with Velocity Global’s business goals, ensuring compliance with local labor laws. This fully remote position requires strong knowledge of Colombian and Brazilian labor laws and HR practices, fluency in English and Spanish, and experience supporting technical teams. You will manage complex employee relations, investigations, and terminations, collaborating with legal counsel. You will also coach people managers on employee engagement and conflict resolution, promoting a positive employee experience.
Requirements
- 5+ years of HR/People Business Partner experience in fast-paced, global organizations with a significant U.S. presence
- Strong working knowledge of Colombian and Brazilian labor laws and HR practices
- Fluency in English and Spanish required; Portuguese strongly preferred
- Experience supporting technical teams (Engineering, Product) and people leaders across LATAM
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with legal counsel on investigations, terminations, and risk management
- Proven success in navigating complex employee relations and performance management matters
- Strong coaching, influencing, and interpersonal communication skills
- Able to work independently while collaborating closely with remote teams across time zones
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with leaders across Engineering, Product, and other business functions to support organizational development, workforce planning, team dynamics, and career development
- Serve as the primary point of contact for People support across Colombia, Brazil, and broader LATAM teams, ensuring culturally relevant and legally compliant support
- Guide leaders in managing performance conversations, coaching, performance improvement plans (PIPs), and employee development initiatives
- Manage complex employee relations issues, investigations, and involuntary terminations, partnering with internal legal counsel as needed to ensure risk mitigation and compliance
- Support workforce changes, including RIFs and organizational redesigns, while maintaining clear documentation and compliance with regional regulations
- Collaborate closely with People Operations and Legal to ensure policies and practices adhere to local labor laws and corporate standards
- Coach people managers on employee engagement, retention, and conflict resolution, fostering a high-performing and inclusive work environment
- Lead or contribute to cross-functional People projects, initiatives, and global programs as assigned
- Promote a consistent and positive employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle—from onboarding to offboarding
